Howard Assembly Room

As part of our Music Works redevelopment project, the Howard Assembly Room is temporarily closed and will reopen in Autumn 2021.

When we open our doors again we can’t wait to bring you a new bar and restaurant, fully accessible building and swish new atrium! We hope to announce a programme of live music, talks, screenings, performance and more soon.

Music Works: more live music

The £18 million Music Works redevelopment will increase the number of performances in the Howard Assembly Room, and give the venue a dedicated public entrance, with a beautiful glass atrium, direct stairs and lift access and improved front of house facilities.

We will bring more of the best global musicians and artists to Leeds each year, creating a diverse calendar of jazz, world music, folk, classical concerts, children’s opera, talks, film and installations.

  • Increased number of performances in the Howard Assembly Room
  • A dedicated entrance
  • An open, welcoming building that is fully accessible at all levels
  • New public spaces and a beautiful atrium
  • A new restaurant and bar
